Medix Survey 08 February 2009 - National Programme Response
The National Programme recognises that clinical engagement is essential. Medix says that a reinvigorated engagement programme may well rebuild enthusiasm for NPfIT which has the potential to be a success. ou can easily modify this page by selecting the text and replacing it with your own content.
l What is GP2GP?
The General Practice to General Practice (GP2GP) patient health record transfer solution is required to support the electronic component of a general practice patient health record being transferred to a new practice when a patient registers with a new practice for primary health care.
GP2GP will offer a safer and more efficient service for patients, clinicians and their administrative support teams.

l QMAS (Quality Management Appraisal System)
QMAS (the Quality Management and Analysis System) gives GP practices feedback on the quality of care delivered to patients measured against national achievement targets detailed in the GMS (General Medical Services) contract, which sets out the way GP's work and the way they are financially rewarded
l Electronic Booking Service
The new Electronic Booking Service (Choose and Book) allows GP's and other primary care staff to make initial hospital or clinic outpatient appointments at a convenient time, date and place for the patient.
When a patient needs to be referred to a consultant or other healthcare practitioner they will be asked by their GP where they want the treatment to take place. They will then be able to 'book' the appointment on the spot and leave the surgery with their appointment time and date. If preferred, patients can make their appointment later - after consulting with family careers or colleagues - either on-line or through a telephone booking service.
Choose and Book completely changes the way the paper-based referral system currently works. It removes the lengthy wait (often weeks) between visiting the GP and receiving an appointment from a hospital.
